WATCH: How One Man Destroys Immigration Debate Using Gumballs

The following video from Numbers USA does a great job of explaining precisely why legal immigration isn’t going to solve the world’s humanitarian crisis, or even make a significant impact. However, I think it fails to deal with the argument that even if helping 1 million people per year come to America isn’t going to solve the world’s problems, it’s still making the lives of 1 million people better than they were before. Immigrants can come to the US for all sorts of reasons, and they can travel on an H1B Visa, an H4 EAD, even look at the Visa Bulletin as well as using other visas to travel. Using the visas helps the US monitor how many immigrants are coming into the country and for what purpose. Is it work? Living conditions? Do they want to be reunited with friends and family? Whatever the reason, 1 million people are still living better lives due to immigrating.
