Breaking: Trump Calls for Change to the Constitution

GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump released an outline of what U.S. immigration policy would look like if “the Donald” becomes president. One of the most interesting (and in my opinion, dangerous) aspects of his plan is his proposal to change the Constitution so that babies born in the United States to illegal immigrants are not given citizenship rights. This, of course, is a guarantee of the Constitution, according to the 14th Amendment: “All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside.”

Trump policy reads, in part: “End birthright citizenship. This remains the biggest magnet for illegal immigration. By a 2:1 margin, voters say it’s the wrong policy, including Harry Reid who said “no sane country” would give automatic citizenship to the children of illegal immigrants.”
